Hey guys, sorry I'm not too great about keeping up with my blog here in the community but we do have a new release I wanted to tell you about, and there were a lot of useful tools added.
To start, we've added two new screens in our latest release: Alerts and Domains. Alerts is a great new tool that gives you the ability to receive email notifications based on two parts. The first option is percentage change. You input a percentage of change you wish to be notified about, and if any search yield…

Last night we released SM2 2.8. This release was a lot of hard work, but was completely worth it. You can now export results, get a weekly overview report, and we've incorporated a new search system. Try it out, let us know what you think. http://sm2.techrigy.com

Every so often Aaron and I sit down and discuss the ways we could improve SM2 from a user standpoint. This proves to be a difficult task as it usually becomes a guessing game. It is hard for us to distance ourselves from the application, or at least enough to really have the mindset of a new user.
I thought it would be beneficial to ask the community their views. We listen closely to user feedback about SM2, and most of our features have come by request. So please, if you have any thoughts abou…

Hello SM2 Community!
I received a lot of emails regarding downtime today. We had an emergency maintenance earlier today and had to take the system offline. Rest assured, this is not a regular occurrence. We are now running again on all cylinders. If there are any other questions, you can shoot me an email at: jim@techrigy.com.
Thanks again for all your support!
- Jim (Manager, Community Support)

I am probably more excited about this latest release than any other. We pushed out our new community feature late last night, giving our users the ability to share Folder Rules (categorization of search results). We worked hard the last couple of weeks to get this working, and it will be a huge help to new users who aren't familiar with our product.
Just head over the Community section of the navigation, and select "Share Folders". Once there you will see a grid of community data (for now, most…

Because the difference between social media and 'traditional' online media is that social media is a conversation rather than a static communication like a book, an informational website (brochureware) or a transactional website (e-commerce, SaaS). Like any conversation there is an entry, responses and changes in subject, opinion and temperament.
I write a Tweet, several people respond, someone blogs about the exchange, another person adds their 2 cents- that's social meeting, a meeting place th…

I just started a discussion on http://www.insocialmedia.com around using social media measurement to track the effectiveness of new media campaigns.

I'm starting to map out how this can actually be used to get real numbers that can be used in an ROI model.

I created a page on Wikipedia for social media measurement.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_media_measurement
It's very rudimentary at this point. I invite everyone that has something to contribute to the page to come and edit it. It would be a great way to learn about how Wikipedia pages are created and edited.…

We are working on some sweet new features for the application. Over the next few weeks we are implementing a community section of SM2. This will give users the ability to share some parts of their accounts with other members, such as: lists of blogs, folder rules, and lists of influencers by verticals. Users can then take, a list blogs for example, and use those blogs in their searches.

One of the nice features SM2 provides is the ability to gain visibility into what authors are thinking when they post about different brands. SM2 is able to do this by looking at the tags and categories associated with the posts. Identifying how content has been tagged or categorized allows us to gain insight into what the authors are thinking and care about.
For example, let's take a look at an SM2 Author Categories Cloud generated for the company E*Trade and see if we can identify any pattern…
